As we all know, skin care is important! None of us want to go around town with a shiny greasy face, but we don’t want to have dry, peeling, and scaly skin either. I have learned how to use essential oils as part of my skin care regimen to help balance my skin and reduce my skin concerns.
Let me share what I have learned with you!
I like to use essential oils to make personalized body lotion, hand/body soap, face serums, lip balms, and so forth. Using the information below, I choose ingredients based on my skin type and skin needs.
Here is a list of my favorite 15 essential oils for skin care and when to use them based on your skin type.

15 Essential Oils good for your skin
Elemi:
Traditionally used to reduce lines and wrinkles associated with aging, and is supportive of healthy skin. Has similar therapeutic benefits as Frankincense and Myrrh oils and sometimes called “the poor man’s Frankincense”.
Frankincense:
Gift to baby Jesus and used by many for its anti-aging and skin repairing benefits. It is helpful with wrinkles, moles, warts, and inflammation. Has a rich, deep, warm, balsamic incense-like aroma.
Grapefruit:
A citrus oil that may help with cellulite, lymphatic congestion, and water retention. Caution: may increase sensitivity to the sun.
Geranium:
A non-sensitizing oil with therapeutic properties of an antiseptic with wound-healing properties. Geranium oil may also be one of the best oils for such diverse dermatological problems as oily or congested skin, dry skin spots, and irritated skin. Strong floral aroma.
Lavender:
This calming oil helps with chapped lips, itching, bug bites, sensitive skin, stretch marks, scarring, and wrinkles. Used in French medicine for acne, burns, dandruff, and to minimize scars. This is a universal oil with a multitude of uses. Nice peaceful floral aroma.
Lemon:
This oil is purifying and detoxifying. It also helps to reduce blemishes. It takes 75 lemons to make a 15ML bottle of this oil. That’s a lot of lemons! Caution: may increase sensitivity to the sun.
Manuka:
Used throughout history for a range of skin conditions: sores, dry skin, itchy skin, and wounds. May help with abrasions, insect bites/stings, skin irritation, oily skin, and chafing.
Melrose Blend:
A marvelous blend of essential oils from Young Living that supports healthy skin. Tea tree oil, Rosemary, Clove, and Naouli oils make up this blend.
Myrrh:
This oil was once one of the most desired and expensive items in the world. Has antiseptic and astringent effects when used on the skin. May help with certain skin conditions, wrinkles, and stretch marks.
Patchouli:
Historically and currently used to help fight infections and tone the skin. May help with acne, cellulite, dandruff, itching, wrinkles, and other skin conditions. Can help to tighten loose skin.
Purification Blend:
A blend of Lemongrass, Citronella, Rosemary, Lavandin, Myrtle, and Melaleuca essential oils from Young Living that is famous for being gentle on the skin. It is also known for being practical and useful for killing germs and zapping acne.
Roman Chamomile:
May neutralize skin sensitivity and increase the ability of the skin to regenerate. Helps with bruises, sensitive skin, and certain skin conditions. Mild enough to use on children. Good for diaper rash, bug bites, and dry skin.
Rose:
A costly oil used for it’s healing properties throughout the ages. Helps to prevent scarring, wrinkles, and other skin conditions. Known for its beautiful aphrodisiac-like fragrance.
Sandalwood:
Very similar to Frankincense in action. Helps to remove negative programming from cells and aid with skin renewal and regeneration. May be beneficial for acne, circulation, and lymphatic functioning.
Tea Tree:
Well-known for its powerful antiseptic properties and ability to treat wounds making it great for skin care and acne prone skin.

Great post! I have to agree with you on all of these. I love using YL frankincense, lavender, geranium and myrrh on my skin every day! I blend it with seabuckthorn and jojoba oil. Amazing!
