I just love the smell of lavender! It doesn’t matter if it is the flower itself, a collection of dry buds, or a bottle of essential oil. I truly adore the aroma of this plant.
For me, it is so beautiful (yes, a smell can be beautiful), calming, and downright lovely. Plus, it helps me to relax and de-stress after a busy day.

Besides a cup of coffee and a good book, something else that helps me relax is a soothing Epsom salt bath using an oil infused body scrub on my hands and feet. I second thought, maybe even both……a hot bath with a body scrub while reading a good book and drinking coffee (or in that scenario a glass of wine would be better). Yes, that sure sounds good doesn’t it?
So…here it is – my favorite sugar scrub recipe that I use to soften my skin and relax. Plus…it’s so simple to make!
3 Ingredient Lavender Coconut Sugar Scrub
•1 cup of white table sugar
•1 cup of Extra Virgin Cold-Pressed Organic Coconut Oil . I use the solid coconut oil because it smells like coconut! YUM!
•10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil
Optional 4th Ingredient: 2 tablespoons of Organic Dry Lavender buds
Step 1 – Melt 1 cup of Coconut Oil using a double broiler method. This doesn’t take much time at all, as coconut oil melts very quickly!
Step 2 – Blend 1 cup of Coconut Oil with 1 cup of white sugar. Stir Gently. Keep in mind, you can add more Coconut Oil if you want to have a more moist hand scrub. This scrub is for you..so, change it up as you desire!! There really isn’t any set rules here, so feel free to be creative.
Step 3 – Add 8-10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil. After adding your oil drops, mix everything together gently, smell your scrub, and add any extra oil drops based on how strong of a lavender aroma you want to have. I prefer around 10-15 drops because I want a stronger lavender aroma. Don’t forget, you can be creative and add another complementary oil like Frankincense or Lemon too.
Step 4 – (Optional ) Add 2 tablespoons of Dry Lavender Buds. This will add more lavender aroma and texture to your body scrub. Plus, it’s pretty! Be sure to stick your nose in the bag and sniff first…ahhhhhh, isn’t that heavenly? Now, add to your scrub and gently blend together.
Step 5 – Add to a sealable jar for storage. I recommend keeping your oil infused body scrub out of direct sunlight or any high heat areas. This scrub should last until the expiration date on your coconut oil jar as long as it’s stored properly.
Tips, if desired:
- Add vitamin E oil for extra moisturizing & antioxidant benefits (get here)
- Use Tea Leaves in place of the Lavender Buds. I have found that Bedtime Herbal tea or Green Tea leaves work great for this recipe. All you do is simply, tear open a couple tea bags or buy loose leaf tea. My fave tea for this is SleepyTime Extra Herbal Tea (get here)
- I like to store in decorated mason jars and keep in my bathroom for when I am ready to use. So..pretty!
- You can also change the essential oil to allow for even more variety. See “Essential Oils for your Skin” for more ideas. — I really like coconut oil, white sugar, lemon oil, and tea tree oil. I use black or green tea leaves with this combination.
Remember, this is your scrub….Be creative!
