15 Simple Ways to Use Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender oil is a lovely floral essential oil that has multiple uses and benefits. This oil has an amazing aroma that is quite calming and used by many for relaxation. Just check out your local spa! I bet you will find quite a few lavender-infused products.

Historically and in present times, this lovely oil is used to help care for wounds, insect bites, sunburns, and overall skin care. It has excellent healing and antiseptic qualities. It is known my many as the “swiss army knife” of essential oils.

Here are 15 simple ways I like to use Lavender essential oil.

1) Put on feet with coconut oil to soften and relax.

You can add lavender essential oil to coconut oil and massage into your heels. Doing this daily will help your feet stay smooth, soft, and moisturized. I like to use this as a sleepytime foot rub by adding cedarwood oil for extra help catching zzzzz’s.

2) Place on wool dryer balls to freshen your laundry.

Dryer balls are amazing. Toxin-free, deodorizing, and help remove static. What more could you ask for!!

3) Use in your diffuser for aromatherapy.

Lavender oil is simply wonderful in an essential oil diffuser. This oil has a fresh floral scent that is calming and beautiful. Plus…lavender oil is known for its ability to help calm anxious feelings and ease tension. Who doesn’t need that in their life?!?!?!

4) Add to diffuser jewelry.

This is such convenient way to use oil and perfect for children! I absolutely love to add oils to bracelets and/or necklaces.

5) Make essential oil perfume.

Add to a spritzer bottle with a touch of witch hazel, drops of oil, and distilled water or place lavender oil in a roller bottle diluted with almond oil.  You can also add other complementary oils, such as geranium, frankincense, and myrrh.

6) Add to Epsom salts for a bath.

I just grab a handful of Epsom salt and drop around 3-4 drops of lavender oil on the granules and drop in the tub!

7) Apply as a Face serum.

Lavender oil is so great for skin care. Helps with blemishes, pimples, and skin health. Mix with a rosehip oil or jojoba oil and gently rub on your face daily to keep your skin youthful and vibrant.

9) Soothe skin with DIY Lotion.

For itchy or irritated skin, you can melt 1 cup of coconut oil and 1 cup of shea butter over the stove top. Blend after melting. Cool in refrigerator until starting to harden. At this point, I like to whip with a mixer to make it fluffy and then add 10 drops of lavender oil. You can also add 5 drops of frankincense oil, if desired.

10) Strengthen and condition your hair with a coconut-lavender hair mask.

Simply, put a few drops of lavender oil in a handful of organic extra virgin coconut oil and apply to your hair starting at the roots. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes then wash. This combination smells lovely and helps keep your hair strong, thick, and healthy.

11) Help you and your children sleep well with a calming bedtime pillow spray.

Use a pinch of salt or a splash of witch hazel and add to a 4 oz bottle of distilled water. Add 15 drops of lavender oil and viola….sleepy spray! Some people even label this bedtime linen spray as “Monster Repellent” to spray in children’s rooms if they are scared of the dark. Fun, huh?!?

12) Scrub down and wash with your own lavender goat milk soap.

Start with a goat milk soap base and melt it down on the stovetop. Add 15-20 drops of lavender oil and pour soap into a mold of your choice. Allow to cool and scrub away!

13) Deodorize with Lavender cotton balls.

Add a drop or two of lavender oil to a cotton ball and put in hidden areas around your home or in stinky spots. This will help to deodorize and also act as an insect repellent for common household critters.

14) Lengthen your eyelashes.

Add 2 drops to your Mascara to lessen clumps and lengthen your lashes!

15) Add to a Rice Sock for sore muscles.

Fill a knee-high sock with uncooked plain white rice and tie a knot after adding 15 drops of lavender oil over the rice. You can heat this up in the microwave for a minute or two and then wrap it around your neck. ahhhhh………..
